iCANdance
About Us
Everyone can create, advocate, and navigate space to be their best self with iCANdance. iCANdance is an adapted dance program for all ages and abilities to explore dance technique. Dance improves the motor skills of children and teens with disabilities more than a traditional program that focuses on gross-motor skills. The concepts of space, time, and energy can provide a framework where the children can learn through movement. Movement is an accessible environment for children to explore and learn. Repeated practice in enjoyable dance programs where visual, verbal, and kinesthetic perceptions can be heightened can help individuals with disabilities to consolidate this knowledge in order to support their movement in the performance of motor tasks. Explore our site for more information, and feel free to reach out with questions.
Technical Foundation
Dance is at its core is adaptable, and technique is the progression of skill application. iCANdance utilizes ballet, jazz, and improvisational dance techniques to interact with the concepts of space, time, and energy. iCANdance provides opportunities for parallel dance training for students that excel in a more individualized environment.
